< Back to projects

Client: Basin Electric Power Cooperative
Location: Wyoming

Laramie River Station has three coal-fired units, each rated at 570 MW, with a total output of 1,710 MW. The existing PLCs and multi-platform DCS systems were replaced by a single DCS platform. In total, 238 new DCS equipment cabinets were added for the nearly 23,000 total I/O. POWER’s services included the preparation of equipment and installation specifications and drawings, field services to administer the installation contract, and checkout and tune the new controls. The engineering scope also included TWIPS and local loops studies, which led to instrument and controls upgrades executed during the outage.
