Enel North America selected POWER Engineers as it development engineer for two binary geothermal plants developed at two resource sites in the Great Basin desert of Nevada. Salt wells was one of the two plants. POWER Engineers was responsible for initial feasibility and conceptual design studies and design engineering for the 19 MW two-unit Salt Wells plant. Both plants use isobutane as the working fluid and employ air-cooled condensers. The Salt Wells plant was designed to interconnect directly to the grid via a 230 kV plant substation.
