The Cerro Prieto IV 100 MW generation plant consists of four 25 MW turbine-generator units, a plant substation, a plant control room, a cooling tower, and various ancillary facilities and systems. The plant is sited in the Cerro Prieto geothermal resource area in Mexico, one of the largest geothermal power producers in the world, with more than 650 MW of geothermal generation already in place.
POWER Engineers was hired by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to provide engineering and electrical testing services for the project. The scope of work included plant layout and design, preparation of design and construction documentation, preparation of design criteria, preparation of purchase specifications, equipment expediting and tracking, project scheduling, and construction support.
